Erie Mayor Joe Schember has ordered the city’s flags lowered to half-staff in honor of Officer Michael Conway; his fellow officers also wearing black bands over their badges.

Officer Conway served the EPD for 19 years.  He passed away Saturday night at an Erie hospital after suffering a medical emergency while on duty.

Schember says, “we are all grieving at this point at the loss of Mike. Obviously, we really feel for his family, his friends, his co-workers; everyone I’ve talked to… He was a good man, he was on the force for quite a number of years doing great work in the city”.

The officer was at work at the Police Department Saturday evening at around 7pm when he suddenly became ill.  An ambulance took him to the hospital where he later died.
