Declared to be the “greatest rematch of all-time” by the Erie City Mission, Erie Mayor Joe Schember took to the ring on Monday to prepare for the city mission’s Knockout Homelessness event.

Schember and his opponent Lou Bizzarro began their training Monday Night at Johnny’s Sports Bar for the February 19th match. This is Mayor Schember’s second time getting in the ring. He says he really enjoys boxing the more he does it and is really looking forward to fight night.

“I’m very happy to be a part of it. I want to do all that I can to help them and the wonderful work that they do. Im really happy to be a part of it and I do enjoy. Typically I dont like sports where you try to hurt the other person but in this we are more just trying to put on a good show frankly and we are really not trying to hit each other that hard,” said Mayor Schember.

The knockout homelessness event will take place at the Bayfront Convention Center at 6 pm.
