Mayor Joe Schember is learning about the ideas and concerns of young adults in the city.
The mayor visited Eagle’s Nest this morning speaking to more than a dozen young adults. The students are part of a mentorship and career-readiness program where students are placed into careers upon completing the training program.
They addressed concerns about education and employment hurdles facing other residents.
Schember says, “Some of the questions we need to do some work on because there’s things we haven’t talked about. One of the most important things is I need to build a relationship with people here on the east side, especially minorities.”
Since being founded in 2015, more than 200 students have gone through the program.
