Erie business owners are coming to the table to discuss economic development.
Mayor Joe Schember’s Business Council is striving to create jobs and grow businesses. The 13-member group, representing small and large businesses, has been meeting monthly since March.
Member of the council and Owner of Monacella Massage and Kinesiology, Missy Monacella, says one of the issues being addressed is the need for small business loans. “Small business loans to me are huge. I was just looking for about $5,000 and somebody recommended to talk to Chris Groner; and lo and behold, now we have the micro-grant program which didn’t exist back then.”
The city’s Department of Economic and Community Development says the flagship Fund Micro-Grant Program was developed this year to support small businesses with strong potential for growth.
