Another community gathering at the McBride Viaduct, this time to voice concerns over the safety of the children who use the bridge.
Members from Erie CPR, Civitas, and the greater community come together to show solidarity with east side residents of Erie. These residents using the bridge as a vital crossing on their daily commute; many of them school-aged kids.
Cynthia Muhammad, of Erie, says, “They say they’ll put up a fence… it doesn’t matter. Children are gonna be children. There are gonna be more deaths that are going to occur. Don’t they care about the safety of the children in the area?”
PennDOT’s plans to demolish the bridge are still in place and could happen in early 2018.
