McDowell JROTC cadets raise flag honoring victims of 9/11

Local News

McDowell High School’s Junior ROTC commemorates September 11th.  Cadets hosted the ceremony reflecting on the attacks and remembering lives lost.

Freshmen observed a presentation featuring interviews of survivors and first responders.  A former cadet started the program five years ago after doing her own research.

Lauren Ott, Former Cadet and Alumna of McDowell High School, says, “We need to come together as a country and create something that’s beautiful where everyone can remember how awesome this country is and that’s what this is for.”

Current Cadet Molly Lloyd tells us, “It means a lot to me because I have a military family and my grandfather was in the Pentagon when that happened. So, it really does affect me a lot. The small things in life does matter.”

The JROTC raised an honor flag with the printed names of each 9/11 victim.
