A defendant charged with murder as a juvenile will be a grown man before he’s up for parole.

Today, the judge sentenced 20-year-old Jay-C McGlumphy to 25-50 years in prison. Investigators say McGlumphy killed 18-year-old Isiah Wiley in a drive-by shooting.

The crime happened at Lincoln Avenue and Bayfront Parkway in June of 2016.  McGlumphy was 17 a the time.  In October, he pleaded guilty to third-degree murder.

The Victim’s Uncle, Desmond Martin, tells us, “Isiah was an impactful person himself, very charismatic. Everybody loved Isiah and to be honest, I feel like I lost my best friend when I lost Isiah. It’s definitely impacted me a lot, impacted my family a lot.”

The prosecution believes Wiley wasn’t the intended target in the shooting.
