Meadville waters rise, causing concern for possible freezing

Local News

The warmer temperatures and melting snow are causing intense flooding across the region.  Jackie Roberts joins us from one of the areas hit the hardest.

She was standing in front of the Mead Avenue Bridge in Meadville and, as you can see in the video, the bridge is closed due to flooding blocking the entrance.  She says as they were driving in from Summit, every time they passed French Creek, they could see the water rising.  In some spots, the water was several inches deep and cars were stuck on flooded roads across the area.

Right now, though, the main fear is that temperatures are expected to drop into the teens within just a few hours, so there’s a potential for all of the water to freeze over.  She says the water is so deep there is a current beginning and it’s not the worst they saw in the area.

Stay tuned for more coverage throughout the day.
