Meadville’s beloved Academy Theatre got a facelift today.
The theatre got a new marquee styled after one that illuminated the entrance back in 1930. The vintage-looking and yet state-of-the-art marquee gives a new look to the historic Chestnut Street theatre.
It will be lit for the first time tonight and, we’re told, light up the theatre every night until about 11pm.
The academy has been entertaining audiences since 1885; first as an opera house, then as a vaudeville stage, movie theatre, and now, for community theatre productions.
