ERIE, PA (January 23, 2019) – The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) invites the public to meet members of the Pittsburgh Pirates while helping support an area nonprofit organization.

From 5 to 6 p.m. today, the Pittsburgh Pirates Charities CARE-a-van will visit the LECOM Medical Fitness & Wellness Center, 5401 Peach St., Erie, to interact with local fans. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to meet and take photos with Pirates players and coaches as well as receive autographs. The Pittsburgh Pirates Pierogies and Bucco Brigade will also be on hand for the festivities.

As part of their visit, the Pirates CARE-a-van will collect non-perishable food items, baby goods, health and beauty aids, household supplies and paper products to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank, the largest nonprofit food distribution organization in northwest Pennsylvania and the only food bank in the region.

Admission to this event is free and open to anyone donating a non-perishable food item for Second Harvest Food Bank. Those making a donation will receive a Pirates giveaway as a thank you, and members of the LECOM Medical Fitness & Wellness Center can enjoy a free treat in the café, courtesy of Pirates Charities.
