11 women are honored for their work in the community in an event that’s nearly 30 years old.  The Mercy Center for Women hosting their annual tea event as part of their 26th Annual Women Making History celebration.  The 11 women named this year join a list of over 300 women who have added to the well-being and development of the community.

Jenny Weigold Geertson, Community Relations for UPMC Health, says, “People are so involved in their churches, or so involved in different community organizations.  And really, it’s a group of people coming together like this today which makes Erie a stronger, better place.  So, it’s all of our individual interests combined into building one stronger community, one stronger family.”

An official public ceremony celebrating the honorees is scheduled for Tuesday, March 27th, at 5:30 in the D’Angelo Performing Arts Center at Mercyhurst University.

That event is free and open to the public.
