The Mercyhurst University North East campus is celebrating its silver anniversary.
It’s been 25 years since the creation of the first branch campus of a university in the Erie region.
The North East campus of Mercyhurst University was once home to St. Mary’s Seminary and after its closure, businessman Bob Miller put a deposit down on the facility to fulfill a community college role in the Erie region.
The North East campus was founded in 1991 with 50 students and in 2016 has 800 students enrolled.
Mercyhurst University President Michael Victor invited 75 local leaders to tour the campus to celebrate the day including Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper and Erie Police Chief Randy Bowers.
