ERIE, Pa. — Mercyhurst University is looking to open a campus in Ireland.
The university announced a yearlong study will be done to decide whether or not to expand its current academic center in Dungarven, Ireland into a full-blown campus.
“This is a long time coming for us and it is an amazing experience an amazing opportunity,” Mercyhurst University Ireland chair Eidi Hosey said.
Mercyhurst and Dungarvan signed a memorandum of understanding via Skype Monday afternoon.
The college has already been given six acres of land and designed a plan for the space.
The campus would house around 150 students.
“It would be a place for our students could go over and continue their education…,” Mercyhurst Univesrity president Michael Victor said.
