A local university is also showing their support for autism awareness in a unique way.

Mercyhurst University is also showing their support for autism awareness in a unique way; students got their nails painted blue for the event, ‘Thumbs Up for Autism’.

Research shows that in the United States, autism occurs in one in 19 births.

Staff and students at the school showed their support to the cause by wearing blue attire.

Brad McGarry, Director of the Autism Initiative at Mercyhurst University, says the awareness is “not just the little guys and kids with autism but also the adults with autism and what they are coping with every day…”

Every evening this week, Mercyhurst University will be lighting up their O’Neil Tower for Autism Awareness.
