Behavioral healthcare is growing in Erie County. Millcreek Community Hospital is expanding from 62-85 behavioral health beds making it the state’s third largest provider of psychiatric inpatient care.
The hospital held an open house luncheon this afternoon to coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day.
Doctors say getting immediate treatment can help prevent more serious problems later. Dr. Danielle Hanson, VP of Care Behavioral Health and Quality Millcreek Community Hospital, says, “As everyone is relatively aware, there’s increasing need for mental health services throughout our community, and certainly throughout the country, as well as increased need for dual diagnosis, treatment in light of the opioid epidemic.”
Remodeling for the geriatrics unit is finished. Renovations for the children’s unit will be compelted this fall.
