Reading can be a relaxing activity, but reading to a furry friend can actually be therapeutic.
With this in mind, the Millcreek Branch Library, along Interchange Road, held a ‘Read to a Therapy Dog’ event Thursday afternoon.
Beginning at 3:30pm, kids were invited to come and read out loud to therapy dogs. The dogs are trained to be gentle and non-intimidating. Reading aloud to a dog has proven to be a useful means of encouragement for young, reluctant readers.
Those who attended were able to pick out a book and a four-legged partner.
