Middle School students are putting their skills to the test in a fast-paced competition.2
Students from three Millcreek middle schools are facing off in a miniature carbon dioxide racecar competition. These devices are designed and produced by the students. Technology teachers say they’re teaching these middle schoolers mechanical principals and sparking an interest in the STEM field.
Bill Kaliszewski, Technology Education Teacher at West Lake Middle School, says, “They are pretty impressive. It’s a pretty good ‘wow’ factor. The kids, the first time they see it, there’s definitely the ‘wow,’ and they do go pretty quick. I mean, they move right down the track pretty well.”
The competition consists of eight students from each Millcreek Middle School. Students work on their cars for an entire quarter leading up to the race.
