Millcreek Police are reminding residents to lock their doors. The department is investigating several thefts from vehicles in the Belle Valley area.
A rash of thefts from vehicles in the Belle Valley area have police on the lookout, and after a few stolen credit cards from those vehicles have shown up at area retailers, police hope you can help identify the suspect from the store’s surveillance video.
The surveillance footage in the video above comes from Walmart in Summit Township. Millcreek Police believe the man is involved in several thefts from homes in the area after stolen credit cards showed up in this store and at a Home Depot also in Summit Township.
The video is from last Friday the 20th and the thefts occurred between October 19th and October 24th. Many of the victims reported stolen items taken from their cars parked in their garages. Captain Mike Kabasinski, of the Millcreek Police Department, tells us, “so, what we would highly suggest is that if you have exterior lighting on your home utilize it. Motion lights; utilize it. Lock up your vehicles, lock up your garages… that is the best precaution you can take”.
Police describe the suspect as a black male in his late 20’s or early 30’s. He is seen in the video wearing a grey hoodie, black jeans and a Cincinnati Reds baseball hat. He was also spotted driving a dark colored Lincoln Town Car with a light colored, cloth top.
Police are hoping that releasing this video will lead to some tips and ultimately, to an arrest. Police are also advising if you see anything suspicious, hear anything out of the ordinary, to avoid checking it out for yourself and to call the police.
