ERIE, Pa. – The Millcreek Township School District will be re-evaluated for a 2013 audit that found questionable policies that allowed free tuition to out-of-district hockey players in exchange for free hockey tickets.
“I have long been outspoken about an agreement to allow youth hockey players, including some from Canada, to attend Millcreek schools tuition-free in exchange for free hockey tickets for administrators,” DePasquale said in a press release. “To me, it’s hard to justify and I do not believe it is in the best interests of the taxpayers.”
DePasquale will begin an audit on Sept. 6 to determine if corrective action was taken to address the issues that were raised in 2013.
DePasquale said there was “clearly issues with leadership, management and bad policy decision” in 2013.
The last audit of the district was released July 16, 2013. The upcoming audit will cover July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2016.
