Millcreek Township cancels firework display

Local News

The city of Erie announces a Fourth of July fireworks display, prompting another community to cancel theirs.  Millcreek Township has hosted fireworks for the Fourth of July the last two years.  They did so because of extra cash on hand and help from local merchants.

This year, Millcreek’s prime sponsor is, instead, supporting the city’s ‘Lights Over Lake Erie’ show.

“Which is great,” says Millcreek Supervisor John Groh.  “It’s nice to have that back down there on the bay.  It’s not that I don’t want to have it out here, it’s the fact that there’s only so many fireworks we can have.”

The city’s ‘Lights Over Lake Erie’ firework display will be on July 3rd at 10pm.  You can watch the show from Dobbin’s Landing.
