UPDATE: At this point, Karen Leclair has been declared deceased. Police will continue their investigation.
The missing woman who went missing off of a boat with her husband on Sunday has been identified as 51 year old Karen Leclair.
U.S. Coast Guard officials said the woman was in a boat with her husband about 2.5 miles north of the Presque Isle Lighthouse. The man reportedly told law enforcement that his wife had become ill. According to officials, sometime after 1 p.m., the man turned around to discover the woman missing. By 2 p.m., Lake City and West Lake fire departments joined the search upon request of the U.S. Coast Guard.
Search teams spend a total of 30 hours looking for the woman via water, air, and ground searches, but the search was finally called off today.
The U.S. Coast Guard began the search and passed the baton to PA Fish and Boat Commission since the incident happened in Pennsylvania waters. PA Fish and Boat led the search and now have passed the case to the Pennsylvania State Police, who have issues a missing person report for Karen Leclair.
During the course of their investigation, it was determined there was no collision or boating accident.
Pennsylvania State Police now have a search warrant for the boat and there is currently a press conference being held on the matter.
