Name of 20th street shooting victim released

UPDATE:  The 28 year old victim who has passed away has been identified as David Tate, Jr. Erie Police have a suspect in custody that was picked up moments after the shooting occurred. He is a 28 year old man from Detroit. Erie detectives are currently working on the charges with the District Attorneys office. 

An autopsy is underway at this hour on the victim of the city’s latest shooting.  At the 1300 block of East 20th Street, Police recovered at least 10 shell casings scattered outside of the home.  A gun was discovered the next block over, and a vehicle was towed away.

This is police’s sixth homicide in six months.  The victim, a 28 year old man, died at 4:20am at UPMC Hamot after he was rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the stomach.  The shooting was reported just after 
3:30am.
 
Another individual was also shot.  This victim, also 28 years old, is in critical condition currently at UPMC Hamot, with gunshot wounds to his chest and legs.
 
Erie Police questioned several people at the scene as their investigation continues.
