The National Day of Prayer starting off strong in Perry Square. For 24 hours, 12 teams will be reading the Bible aloud in the square.
Committee Member Holly Bowers says the national event has been going on since the 80’s. Participants started reading from the New Testament and will read straight through.
Bowers says this is something the nation needs in light of attacks on religious groups.
“There are so many things going on all over our nation, all over the world… We really need healing. There is so much that divides us that we thank God there are things that unite us.”
The event will conclude inside City Hall tomorrow at noon.
