Erie’s newest waterfront hotel opened to guests Thursday afternoon after nearly two years of construction.
The $58.5 million Courtyard Erie Bayfront Hotel, part of the Marriot franchise, is owned by Erie Events and is connected to the Bayfront Convention Center.
Builders call the five-story hotel innovative and unlike any other Courtyard in the country.
The hotel features 192 rooms and is decked out in signature, custom furniture and maritime decor to compliment the natural backdrop of Presque Isle Bay.
The Shoreline Bar and Grill is the hotel’s main gathering space, but guests can also enjoy an indoor pool as well as an outdoor infinity pool overlooking the bay.
The hotel also features an open-air plaza on the second floor.
Thursday, the first guest checked in with even more expected to arrive Thursday night.
Nearly 90 people were hired to run and operate Erie’s newest hotel.
“It’s got the best views,” said Rick Banks, houseman at the hotel. “You are up in the rooms and you open the curtains you got that beautiful lake and Presque Isle right across the water. We are ready to go, we are going to handle it. We are going to knock it out of the park.”
The hotel is now taking reservations with a standard room costing $150-$275 depending on the season and events in the city.
