New distracted driving law

Local News
A new law increases penalties for drivers involved in crashes caused by texting and driving.

‘Daniels Law’ was signed by Governor Wolf in January.

It will penalize drivers involved in fatal crashes with up to five years in prison if they were texting and driving.

The law was named after motorcyclist Daniel Gallatin, a military veteran and fireman who was killed when he was hit by a driver who was texting.
