The Erie County Women, Infant, Children Center is previewing a newly-built lactation room.
The room is to help mothers breastfeed in a private area within the center. It was made possible by a $10,000 grant from the Erie Community Foundation.
Registered Lactation Specialist Laura Corwin says the process has taken a year from applying for the grant to the finished product. She says one benefit of the room is an educational DVD series for mothers to watch during feeding.
“It will also provide a nice, peaceful calming place for them to breastfeed. We also will have three lactation specialists on staff.”
The room will officially open on Monday, February 25th.
