New ‘special event permit’ now required in Millcreek

Local News

Organizations and individuals planning special events in Millcreek now have to apply for a ‘special event permit’.

This morning, Millcreek Township Supervisors passed a resolution on the establishment of a special event permit and the fees to go along with it.  This permit would help emergency services pre-plan for an event.  This would apply to everything from neighborhood block parties to Discover Presque Isle.

Matt Exley of Millcreek Emergency Management, says, “I really wanted to try to keep things reasonable because we want to encourage people to have special events and to have fun in our township, but we want to make sure that the public safety was taken care of, as well”.

Fees range from $35 up to $650 for planned events expecting 10,000 people or more in attendance.
