New state bill would require insurance companies to assist with Lyme disease treatment

Local News

Making sure your Insurance Company pays for treatment of Lyme disease.  That’s the intent of legislation passed with strong bipartisan support by the State House.

The bill is sponsored by Warren County State Representative Kathy Rapp, Chairman of the House Health Committee. She says this legislation is a win-win to ensure that every patient diagnosed with this epidemic and other related tick-borne diseases has full access and insurance coverage for available and emerging diagnostics and treatment options.

Pennsylvania has ranked highest in the nation for the number of confirmed cases of Lyme disease for seven years running.

The bill now moves on to the Senate for a vote.
