New tourism signs pop up around Erie

Local News

If you’re driving around Erie, you may notice more Erie tourism signs in place.

The signs are there to tell tourists the directions to the Erie Visitor Center, Tom Ridge Environmental Center, and Presque Isle State Park.  11 new signs were installed around Erie about a week ago, but representatives form VisitErie, TREC, and Presque Isle had the official unveiling of one set of their signs today.

VisitErie President, John Oliver, says, “We want to see an increase in that economic impact that visitors bring to this community.  We’re already exceeding a billion dollars in spending by visitors; we believe that number can continue to grow if we are able to show them all that we have to see and do in this area. “

Oliver says there will be signs for ‘Erie Visitor Center’ added around Erie in July.
