It’s a sign of spring in these parts as certain as the first robin in the yard; the setting of the masts on the Flagship Niagara.
Each season, the masts are carefully returned to their upright positions using large cranes. It’s a major part of getting the flagship ready for the season. And, it’s a busy sailing season as well as the crew travels the Great Lakes visiting a number of communities and festivals.
This year, the Niagara is joined by the Lettie G. Howard, a 125-foot fishing schooner that will arrive in Erie in May to enhance the sailing experience here.
