No citations issued to boaters on Memorial Day

Local News

It was a safe memorial day weekend on the water this year.

The coast guard reports that despite ongoing patrols no one was cited for boating under the influence this year.

The fish and boat commission, which also monitors activity on the water did not cite anyone for excessive drinking either.

Those who operate a boat while intoxicated can face heavy fines, jail time and the loss of boating privileges.

The coast guard can also tow your boat in to port as a result.
