It may not be Christmas, but it felt that way at the Erie Zoo, as hundreds of local non-profits lined up for checks from this year’s Erie Gives Campaign.
The day-long fundraiser saw donations from 41 states and the number of donors grew 39% from last year.
Mike Batchelor of the Erie Community Foundation tells us, “The grand totals were $4.2 million and that doesn’t count corporate matching dollars that will be distributed throughout the year. We’ll never know the exact amount that’s up to the non-profits and the companies but it has been a great success”.
The donations were up about $1 million from last year’s donations and Batchelor says there’s more room to grow next year.
