A community staple is taking over North East this week and you'll want to get there before you miss it.
The North East Cherry Festival is underway. The community event features rides, various foods and of course, cherry pie! Proceeds from the festival benefit the North East Fire Department. Four days into the festival and organizers say it's been a hit.
"It's been excellent. The crowd has been outstanding. People are definitely eating and getting their stomachs full this week. Everyone is enjoying the rides and all the food on the grounds. I haven't heard a complaint yet," said David Meehl, fire chief and co-chair of Cherry Festival.
Saturday is your last day to enjoy all that the Cherry Festival has to offer! The big parade begins at 4:00 p.m.
