A piece of Erie history is on its way to North East.

The North East Railway Historical Museum will add a new locomotive to its display. Right now, the collection has a 1960s and a 1980s train model. Organizers say the dash 7 model will make their display complete.

The model is currently at the G.E. in Erie.

“The railroad CSX has agreed to cosmetically restore it and it’s not back to the colors it was when it was built, which is really popular. It’s the old Chessy Cat,” said Ray Grabowski, Lakeshore Railway Historical Society President.

Organizers say getting ahold of these locomotives is a tough job, and the collection in North East is one of the best.
