Nursing students donate items to UPMC’s NICU

Local News

For the second year, students of Penn State Behrend’s nursing program are donating items to the UPMC Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The students bringing their donations of about 90 premie outfits to the Magee Women’s Hospital. Families will use the clothes during their baby’s stay at the hospital.

Many of the babies in the NICU are born early, which sometimes means families aren’t fully prepared.

Behrend Nursing Student & NICU Employee Brittney Carr tells us, “It makes me feel really good.  It makes me feel good knowing that I’m doing something for the babies and the families as well for the NICU and the nurses.”

The students say they hope to make this donation a tradition.

Last year, they donated books for parents to read to their babies.
