It’s a week of fun and bonding with local law enforcement for dozens of Erie children. The Erie Police Athletic League is kicking off a week-long summer camp at Gannon University today.
Around 60 kids are participating in sports and activities while being mentored by Erie Police Officers, Erie County Sheriff Deputies and Gannon University Coaches and athletes.
This is the first Police Athletic League Summer Camp in around 50 years. Ron Dinicola, Co-Chair of the Leage, says, “The Police Athletic League at its core is dedicated to unlocking the power of the cop-kid relationship. As you can see and hear, we’re unlocking the power right now. It’s a tremendous thing.”
The camp also exposes the kids to a college campus.
The camp runs all week with a closing awards ceremony Friday afternoon.
