Presque Isle State Park officials have issued swimming advisories for Barracks Beach and Beach 8 due to elevated E. coli bacteria counts.
Beaches under swimming advisories remain open to the public, but beach users are asked to use caution while swimming.
The advisories will remain in effect until a bacteria count of 235 CFU per 100 milliliters or less is obtained.
The count for Barracks Beach was 400, while Beach 8 was 320.
For public safety, testing of swimming waters is performed twice weekly.
The advisories will remain in effect until there is no longer a environmental and public health concern.
The advisories only affect the listed beaches. The park has 13 regulated swimming beaches.
