One of the first buildings built west of Myrtle Street in Erie is now the home of the Historical Society’s Education Center.
The restored Wood-Morrison house was dedicated with a ceremony held at the mansion built on 6th Street’s Millionaire’s Row. It’s fitting that the house will be used to promote Erie’s history since it served as the home of Dr. William Wood, who received national recognition for his service in the Navy.
Erie Historical Society’s George Deutsch says, “It’s a beautifully restored 1858 building which was originally built by the man who would become the first surgeon general of the Navy”.
The house was also the home of the Erie Art Center in its long past.
