Ollie the orangutan to leave Erie Zoo and head for sunny California

Local News

A member of the Erie Zoo’s orangutan family is leaving home. 9-year-old Ollie will soon head to San Francisco to participate in the breeding program there.

But first, a thorough physical to make sure all is well.

Four veterinarians performed a series of tests on Ollie checking teeth, internal organs, urine, and overall health.  Ollie’s traveling case has already been placed in the exhibit so that he can become used to it.

If all of the tests are good, Ollie will hit the road sometime in the next two months.

President and CEO of Erie Zoo Scott Mitchell will be here to tell us more next week on Good Morning Erie.
