On March 14th, students across the nation will take part in walkout for victims of Parkland shooting

Local News

Three weeks ago today, 17 people lost their lives following the tragic shootings at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.  The shooting reignited a long-standing debate in this country over gun control and mental illness.

As a result of the fear and tensions, this event sparked in those students and others across the country, student bodies across the nation are organizing a show of support by demonstrating through peaceful walk-outs.  These walkouts will take place on March 14th at 10am and will last 17 minutes, one minute for each victim of the shooting.

Joining us tonight to discuss one of those planned walk-outs is Hannah Wyman, a Senior at General McLane High School and one of the organizers of that school’s walk-out.
