There’s word tonight that the flu season is in full swing in Erie and may not have peaked yet.
We’re being told that after a slow start there have been more than 250 new cases of flu reported in Erie County in each of the last three weeks. 25% of those cases reported are in the 25-49-year-old age group, but the flu hits every age group.
Char Berringer of the Erie County Health Department says, “Some seasons start in November and are pretty much done by the New Year; other seasons start later and end later. This appears to be a season starting later and ending later. You cannot predict the flu virus.”
And, even though we’re getting to the end of March, there’s still time to get a flu shot if you haven’t yet.
