Opening statements begin today in Erie CPR McBride Viaduct suit against the city

The lawsuit filed by a conservation group looking to save the McBride Viaduct from demolition will be heard in federal court today.

That suit, first filed April 30th, looks to save the viaduct.  The group Erie CPR (Connect+Respect) wants to create a pedestrian walkway with the 80-year-old bridge.  

District Judge Susan Paradise Baxter will hear opening statements and take testimony as the group looks for a civil rights injunction against the mayor and City Council, PennDOT, and the Public Utility Commission.
