The trial for a fatal 2017 shooting is set to get underway soon.

Jury selection began this morning for the trial of Jalen Reynolds and Taisha Santiago. They are charged with the shooting death of 28-year-old David Tate, Jr.  He was shot in the 1300 block of East 20th Street in the early morning hours of June 29th last year.

Tate died at an Erie hospital a short time later.

Police say another 28-year-old man was shot about a block away.  Opening statements are expected to take place on Monday morning.  According to court documents, the trial for a third suspect, Lashonta Dade, will be scheduled after Reynolds and Santiago’s trial is over.

David Dalton is a fourth person charged in this murder case.  He waived his preliminary hearing in May.
