The organizers of a comprehensive plan to make Erie a healthier city with longer lifespans are back in town. The Blue Zones Project is back in Erie with their specialized plan to make healthy choices the easy choice in the region.
At the meeting today, local leaders discuss with those planners the scope and funding for the project.
National Spokesperson for Blue Zones, Tony Buettner, says, “What I’ve seen here is an incredible community and people that really care about the future of this community. And [are] ready to work in a systems approach to make semi-permanent and permanent changes to environments and lifestyles and the designs of the places we spend our days.”
At this point, the group leading the initiative is attempting to secure funding to begin work on these projects within the next year if all goes as planned.
