A professional hockey player is teaming up with a local business to help a community in need.
Erie Otters Defenseman Aidan Timmermans is collaborating with Iron Empire Clothing. The co-owner of Iron Empire, RJ Messenger, says Timmermans reached out to him about selling tee shirts to raise money for people affected by the tragic bus crash involving the Humboldt Broncos Junior Hockey Team.
“We’re not in the business of printing tee shirts,” Messenger says. “We’re in the business of trying to change lives. And, you know, if we can help raise a couple thousand dollars for a good cause; count us in.”
Iron Empire is making the tee shirts on a pre-order basis, with more than 700 sold already. Messenger says hundreds of people throughout the US and Canada will be wearing the shirts. They’re expected to be available for pickup at the Erie Otters front office sometime next week.
