Over 400 volunteers work to spruce up East Middle School

Local News

Volunteers are spending the day giving back; sprucing up a middle school.

With paintbrushes in hand, volunteers began to transform East Middle School.  400 people from GE, UPMC Hamot, United Way, and First Team 291 Robotics joined forces today to make a difference at East.

The school’s principal, Scherry Prater, says, “our kids have the opportunity to have an environment that is bright and inviting and motivating and often that translates into academic success”.

The makeover begins today and runs through the end of this week.  They say 160 gallons of paint will be going up on the walls.
