Owner to repair building or face jail

Local News

A judge has told one Erie business owner to clean up his property or go to jail.

John Nowak owns the large Erie Mill and Press building right off the Bayfront Connector at 12th Street.

Erie City has dealt with Nowak for years, asking him to clean up the eyesore. Bricks are falling off the side, and the roof is far from finished. The city said enough is enough and filed a summary code violation.

Judge Paul Urbaniak fined Nowak $1,000. Nowak has 30 days to work on the bricks and three months to work on the roof.

If the building is not fixed, Nowak could face jail time.
