In late September, Lisa Thompson and her family lost the Lakeside Tavern in a fire.
“They took away my security, my income, a business that I’ve had for 30 years with my children and my husband,” said Thompson.
There is still an ongoing investigation into what happened at Lakeside. Thompson says she believes someone burned the place down intentionally. With this thought,Thompson added that she is hesitant to rebuild. “Do you rebuild knowing that there is somebody out there… that could do it again?” said Thompson.
Although there is no physical location for employees and patrons of Lakeside to gather. Thompson is still surrounded by some of her employees. “Why would someone want to do something like this and it’s just unfortunate that they don’t know Lisa and Larry like I do,” said Jessica Kellogg, former employee at Lakeside Tavern.
Kellogg says she loved working at Lakeside Tavern and she hopes the community can come together to help the Thompson’s with cost.
“I think people don’t realize what they can do to help until they see something someone else is doing and it sparks more ideas and more ways people can help the community,” said Kellogg.
A couple of local bands will be having a benefit fundraiser to help the Thompson’s at the French Quarters on Saturday, November 17th.
Thompson is also encouraging people with any information about the fire to come forward.
