Pennsylvania covers a wide range of communities and this week, many of them come together in Erie.
The County Commisioners Association of Pennsylvania holds its annual conference at the Bayfront Convention Center this year. Coordinators anticipate around 500 people in attendance.
Organizers say the CCAP provides county leaders with information and guidance to run their territories effectively. This includes topics surrounding legislation, education and technology. Coordinators tell us it’s important leaders across the state can share ideas and contribute to one another’s decision making.
PR Director, Ken Kroski, says, “When we get together and talk about specific things as counties and that many counties coming here at one time, we really get a sense of what we need to say to legislatures, what we need to say to the public… better ways to operate for counties so that we can look out for tax dollars and what people need for health and safety issues…”
This week’s meeting marks the 131st gathering of the association.
Senator Bob Casey is scheduled to address the conference on Tuesday.
