Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Pedro Rivera has rejected the first version of the Erie School District’s recovery plan.
Secretary Rivera instructing the district to rework the state-mandated financial improvement plan. The state says there are technical issues with the plan and that the district needs to lay out clearer objectives before the state will approve it.
Erie Schools Superintendent Brian Polito says he’s not surprised by the request and is hoping a revised plan will meet state approval.
“It’s similar to what happened to us when we submitted our first plan a couple years ago. I don’t think it’s anything out of the ordinary to have revisions to those type of plans.”
The state-appointed Financial Administrator Charles Zogby has 60 days to submit the revised plan.
